Everybodys got property nowadays
Monday, November 26th, 2007The other week responsibility hit me in the face and I went to a local residents meeting.
Distressingly, what I remember most about the meeting was the pervasive use of the word ‘property’ – everyone was talking about their properties, other people’s properties and the planned properties on the site near the station.
What ever happened to good old words like ‘house’ or ‘flat’?
In his autobiography, Barry Humphries complains that his mother insisted that he didn’t use the word ‘house’ – nice people live in homes, not houses, she decreed.
Now, thanks to the insidious influence of reality real estate TV, nice people live in properties.
