Song of the Week: If You So Wish
Regular readers will know by now that I am easily won over by any tune with a classic (and generally predictable) melody, some vague, non-descript lyrics and a touch of the MOR about it.
Well, here’s another one for the collection.
‘If You So Wish’ is an album track by UK psych group Kaleidoscope and has been on high rotation on the Cocktails and Records stereo for a few weeks now. I bought the LP for the title track ‘Faintly Blowing’ (as I suspect everyone does) but this song is pretty good too – in a classically predictable late 60s MOR kind of way of course.
‘If You So Wish’, Kaleidoscope, from Faintly Blowing,1969

Yes. I’m on a buzz for all sorts of 67-71 oddities – there’s not enough clarinets on records are there (Roxy Music excepted)
You should check out this site it’s packed with peaches

There’s probably a reason why clarinets aren’t used on many records. And one of them might be the influence of Aker Bilk!
I know Faintly Blowing (thanks to 23Daves), but it’s a bit overwhelming – there is too much stuff on there!
Toffee Sunday Smash is pretty good too if you don’t already know it – http://web.mac.com/andymorten/iWeb/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html
