Song of the Week: Two Doors Down

Two Doors Down

I’d heard this tune a couple of times on 6Music over the past month, each time thinking ‘that’s good – what is that? ‘ but never finding out. I originally assumed it was some song from the mid-80s that I’d just not heard before. But google tells me (and no, I’m not really suprised by this) that ‘Two Doors Down’ is a new song by a new(ish) band from Twickenham.

The 7″ artwork and the clip below suggest a band with a tiresomely predictable interest in the 80s. This is unneccesarily reiterated by the B side cover of Aztec Camera’s ‘Somewhere in my Heart’. It’s not a particularly great version, but ‘Two Doors Down’ is a summer corker that I just can’t get out of my head.

That is infectious – I can see it ending up on my summer playlist, and a headless guitar too. Someone’s done their 80s homework.

PM – I didn’t know that you could still buy clothes like that, let alone headless guitars… Annoyingly catchy tune though, yes.

Trying too hard with the 80’s theme, but I like it nonetheless. I’m sure I heard a reference to Marquee Moon somewhere along the line…………

Marquee Moon? Hadn’t noticed that. I hope not, I mean thats a bit too 70s for them…Didn’t everyone hate the 70s in the 80s?
