I’m back. Suffering with a cold, jet lagged and swamped by emails, but pleased to be home nonetheless.

Welcome home - hope it was a good trip and not too much of a grind getting back to the usual ol’ agg’. You should start a flickr thing for your pics - I’d love to see more

Great shots of China too. I’ve been to Hong Kong but not to the mainland. I’m fascinated by it, and have a sort of ‘attraction/repulsion’ feeling about the place…

I know what you mean about China ISBW. The country combines those rare qualities of being both fascinating and scary. It really is a completely different culture and way of thinking, and the impact of the one-party state is a perfect example of this - both ruthless efficiency and beaurocracy like nothing else!
We were lucky enough to have friends there (one who works as a journalist too) so were able to get quite an interesting insight into the country which would have otherwise passed us by. As a result I feel even more confused about the place…
